How to make an employee feel valued:
- give them a full time version of the part time position they held, tell them youre excited theyre interested in this position, but keep their contract temporary (meaning they’re done in a few months)
-tell them it’s no problem they don’t meet most of the qualifications and that they will be trained
- invest very little time and effort into actually training them to a level they can confidently do things, and instead have them do something that isn’t really part of their job description, where someone in a different position trains them so they can actually be useful.
- said other person retires. “Hey your contract ends soon, do you just want to be that person’s position instead?” because nobody else is trained to do that job.
🙃 I love the place where I work, and most of my coworkers have been nice, but it’s hard to feel valued as a person and an employee with all this crap. I’m also pretty sure the position they want me to take over is technically lower then the one they hired me for. I’ve been an employee for this organization for almost 8 years (not consecutive because i held several temporary positions) and I’m pretty frustrated with this situation. Why hire me for the full time position if they didn’t actually want to train me on anything.
